Year 2 Fastrain Program
Core Program
Participation in our Year 2 Fastrain program will ensure your child encounters a comprehensive and academically rigorous investigation of numeracy and literacy. Every major aspect of English language and mathematics are thoroughly explored. The program covers concepts at a slightly more advanced level than your child will encounter at school.
Course Goals
- Develop literal and inferential comprehensions skills
- Develop writing skills across a range of text types
- Develop spelling skills
- Develop writing skills – structuring paragraphs and longer texts
- Develop vocabulary
- Develop grammar and punctuation skills
- Develop advanced knowledge of number up to three digits
- Develop numerical operations and basic understandings of fractions
- Develop basic general ability (thinking skills) concepts
- Develop concepts of area, time and measurement using formal and informal units
- Develop concepts of graphing, money, chance and probability
- Develop concepts of shape, position and temperature
Course Structure
- English and Maths
- 4 terms in a year, 10 weeks in a term
- 3 hour lessons per week, during term
- Students attend lessons at their allocated time schedule
- Small class group based
- Experienced educators
